Peak power:
🔌 Car limit: This model accepts a maximum of kW. A more powerful station won't speed up charging.
❄️ Coldgate: Battery is too cold. The station reduced power to protect the cells.
⚠️ Charging curve: Above 80%, the process slows down significantly.
How does our model work?
- 🔋 Recognizes chemistry: LFP batteries (e.g., base Tesla or BYD) lose more power in the cold than NMC. The model knows this and adjusts the curve.
- 🌡️ Coldgate effect: Without preconditioning, plugging a frozen battery into a DC fast charger drastically increases charging time.
- 📉 DC charging curve: Above 80% SoC, the electronics limit charging power, which we accurately reflect in our time estimates.
